Milking money on someone's handicap usually makes me feel bad, but this one sure as hell didn't sell a single unit.

If there is black humour, this gotta be it?

Or you are just itching to tell me it was Number One on the US Singles chart in 1964 -- with Elvis taking the second spot?

...that's just creepy!

Whichever god is in question,
(s)he's got a really peculiar
sense of humour I must say...

What were called at the time in the US "Negro Spirituals" which found a rousing and boisterous joy in celebrating their God amidst the realities of a difficult and haggard existence. A shared experience and one that no one could take from them.

Hi Vlek,

do you know if this album is within the genre you mentioned?

Your note reminded me of Martin Luther King who I have always held as one of my heroes.

Hmm... I see this also made me to remember some news I heard recently:

Greetings ...

No I am not actually familiar with this particular album but the picture is very much in keeping with the cultural tone of that era, and the US Southern style Gospel and spiritual musical. She looks like she is having a great deal of fun and seems utterly abandoned to the moment. I could not help but be reminded of that genre, something those of us in the North can't even begin to understand.

Cool cover! I don't say this or that of g/d's involvement, rather I say that's impressive. Undoubtedly most skilled handless organists play far better, legless slalom skiers are down the hill quicker and blind sprinters are way faster - than me. Just think of Paralympics (the international site here). Now that's some determination to do whatever you want, despite the cards you're given.

It would be _so_ cool if there was nothing but silence on the whole record.
