Hope

Hope, when bold, is strenght. Hope, with doubt, is cowardice. Hope, with fear, is weakness.

Interesting, the word hope usually has had negative connotations to me. If you want to "win" consistently in any area of life, you have to do the right thing not the wrong or half-way thing and hope for the best.

It is usually this negative side that I see as one of the strongest curses of modern times. It dominates many forms of religion, social and enviromental policies and so on ad infinitum...

I like to use the word "dream" instead for the positive expressions of hope.

dark days

sometimes
a plague of black ants
swarms from some
crack in my heart and
lays waste to
the garden of my soul
i am left standing
on blighted soil
holding some
tenuous thread
hope is such a fragile
life line

sometimes
a chasm opens up
between me and
my life
i smell you
inches from me
i taste the roses
a memory a theory
the wind raises
goose bumps
on my skin
a universe away
can this filament
this hope
bridge this
unfathomable gap
i might as well
try to lasso
the sun
